Genre-blending electronic jammers Lotus will plug in and rock out on
the Three Rivers Arts Festival Main Stage at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, June
18, 2008. All Three Rivers Arts Festival Main Stage performances are
free and open to the public.
Lotus blurs the lines between
dance, electronica and rock music. Taking their unique sound around the
world has built the band an impressive underground fan base.
“Musically, we [want to] contrast raw and dirty sounds like guitar
feedback, roomy-sounding drums with obviously electronic sounds like
drum machines and analog synths,” says Lotus member Luke Miller. The
result is glitch-hop meets rock’n’roll, heady electronica with
post-rock riffs and funky rhythms.
“Few bands try to create a
new genre these days, but Lotus is going for it,” says Elizabeth Reiss,
the Festival’s Executive Director. “Their sound is world music history
revised and made new. We’re happy to present Lotus again this year.”
