PITTSBURGH -The Three Rivers Arts Festival and WYEP-FM are pleased to announce Robyn Hitchcock: I Often Dream of Trains at 8 pm, Monday, November 17, 2008, at the New Hazlett Theater on Pittsburgh’s North Side at 6 Allegheny Square East. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 26, 2008, through ProArts Tickets.

Spanning more than three decades, Robyn Hitchcock’s prolific and influential body of work has established him as a world-class tunesmith and a singular lyricist with an uncanny penchant for incisive whimsy and vivid surrealist metaphor. His lyrics are an essential component of his work and tend to include surrealism, comedic songs, characterizations of English eccentrics and melancholy depictions of everyday life. His themes include what many psychologists view as the roots of modern neurosis – namely, death, sex and eating.

In August this year, Hitchcock released Luminous Groove, the second in a trio of retrospective box sets that gather some of his most enduring vintage recordings. The five-CD, 90-track collection combines three classic ’80s Hitchcock albums with unreleased tracks and rarities from the same era. Luminous Groove meets up with I Wanna Go Backwards, Hitchcock’s 2007 box set release that includes the album I Often Dream of Trains – the title track of his 2008 tour.

Tickets for the November 17 performance are $25. To purchase tickets, call ProArts Tickets at 412.394.3353 or visit www.proartstickets.org.
