This is part two of a series of posts introducing this year’s Emerging Artist Scholarship recipients. These following artists will be showcasing their work at the festival’s Artists Market throughout the festival.
Christopher Ruane is a photographer and digital artist who dreams of blurring the boundary between art and technology. He uses cutting-edge computer graphic technology to manipulate original photographs, building and blending as many as 500 elements and layers for each finished piece. Christopher is selling digital prints made from his own original photographs.

Nancy Deckant is a painter who recently made art her full-time career. Her pieces often focus on people mixed into a chaotic environment that surrounds them like a storm. She uses vibrant colors to evoke a range of emotions, from the dark and ominous to bright, using watercolors and mixed media.

After studying art in college, Maria Leysens eventually returned to her passion and is now a full-time artist painting and teaching in her own studio in Mars, PA. Maria uses acrylics and watercolors to create portraits and other works that offer a snapshot of daily life. More of her work can be seen here on her Etsy page.
