I’ve been photographing the festival for about a week now. It has a place in my heart because of the COMMUNITY that thrives within it. I hula hoop with young women, listen to toddlers explain their latest “Creative Re-Use” creation, and sit beside master painters as they work. These folks know me–not the photographer, but “me” because both they and I show up and hang out at the wonderful gathering grounds that the festival creates.
I treasure the situations that allow the melting pot to happen…There aren’t that many places where you don’t have to have money, you don’t need to be a certain age, and you don’t need a reason to be there other than to have fun.
I feel a wonderful warmth when people stop me to talk. I hope that you, too, have the chance to dive in and TAKE THE TIME to be part of the community this weekend.
